Hello!

 

This week pupils wrote diary entries inspired by the book Mill Girl, by Sue Reid.  The book is a series of diary entries written by a young girl, called Eliza, during the time of the industrial revolution.  Eliza is shocked when she is sent to work in the Manchester cotton mills – a noisy, suffocating working environment where the work is backbreaking and dangerous. 

Having discussed the main features of a diary entry, and identified the use of these in Eliza’s diary entries, pupils wrote four of their own.  It gives me great pleasure to write that all members of the class wrote their entries with great enthusiasm.

Our Jigsaw work this week was on direct and indirect bullying.  As a class we discussed the differences between the two and what positive actions pupils should take if they are concerned about direct or indirect bullying.

In Maths we looked at rounding, estimating and inverse operations.  Pupils attempted a range of fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions.
