Well done Kingfishers for another week of hard work.

Following up our class worship focusing on the value of friendship, the children made and connected links in a friendship chain. This helped us to reflect on how important it is to feel a sense of belonging and to know that we are all individual, special parts of a greater “whole”.

We have also explored what it means to be a courageous advocate; good friends speak up for one another and also stand up for what is right.  Our Jigsaw lesson this week was about how to recognise and tackle direct and indirect forms of bullying.  A number of the children demonstrated excellent examples of ways to go about that.  We made Snakes and Ladders games to remind each other of effective strategies and how to avoid making situations worse,

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ”

(Galatians 6:2)

Our diary entries inspired by “Mill Girl” are almost finished; this week we “purple-polished” and began writing the final drafts in Golden Writing Books - look out on the Class news page next week for examples.

We are learning about the proud heritage of Manchester and the courage of its people, in our history lessons. The demands of the Chartist movement demonstrated care for and collaboration with fellow workers - a clear example of courageous advocacy! 

The unit on fractions was completed this week in  Kingfisher maths group.  Please go to the White Rose website to watch the videos on dividing fractions by integers, applying all four calculation operations to fractions, finding fractions of amounts and finding a whole amount from a known fraction, if your child would like to review what they have learned.
