We have already had four weeks of our Autumn term and you are working really hard, Kingfishers.
This week we held our election for our School Parliament @ ACE. There were some difficult decisions to be made, which helped us to learn about democratic processes and fair representation. Thank you to all who stood for election, you made some impressive speeches. Our MSPACES were duly elected: representing Year 6, congratulatiions to Sreenidhi and well done to our Year 5 representative, Aswin.
Dragons’ Den came to Kingfisher Class in our history lesson this week. Taking some inspiration from Horrible Histories Victorian version of the programme, we researched some innovations of the time and made our pitches. Everyone then decided whether they were “in” or “out”. Next week we will continue to explore the impact of change and innovation when we learn about the industrial revolution. Here is an example of our pitches:
Introducing the Underground Train!
Londoners will be able to travel around faster and more easily than ever before....
Christmas came a little early this week. Our next-door neighbours, Doves Class, were startled to hear traditional carols coming from our room as we designed our cards, inspired by research into Victorian cards. (Christmas cards were one of the innovations pitched to our dragons in our history lesson, too.). We are keeping our designs under wraps for now - look out for your sample pack when they come back from the printers!
Kingfisher maths group have been getting to grips with long multiplication this week. If you found it tricky, or you just want to take another look at the concrete and pictorial representations to help you with your homework and share our methods with adults at home, take another look at the videos here:
