Week 4

Hello to all my FAB Finches and your families!

I hope you are keeping safe and well at this difficult time. Thank you so much for your lovely emails and updates throughout last week. I really enjoy hearing about what you have been doing. Here are some photos which your classmates wanted to share with you all:

Poor Will has broken his foot on the trampoline, OUCH! We all wish him a speedy recovery.

Alex and Katherine have certainly developed "Green Fingers", tending their plants with great care. Here's Alex with his tall sunflowers and Katherine with her delicious beans:

Look what Tristan found in his dad's wallet! I am so impressed that this coin features one of the inventors we have been researching, "Alexander Graham Bell".

Finally, here's a video of Toby's amazing "Marble Run", which he made for his Cub challenge:

I'll just quickly tell you what Lacey has been doing to cool down this week.

Each day, she has gone for an evening swim with her best buddy, Barney. They were both too hot to fetch the ball in this photo:

I thought you would like to see Lacey enjoying some doggy ice cream to help her cool down:

English work for week beginning 29/6/20:

Here's a reminder about Bug Club for reading but it is absolutely fine to read your own books from home:

For your reading comprehension this week, I have chosen one about "Fair Trade" as we will be looking at this theme in our geography focus. Please choose challenge 1, 2 or 3 to complete:

Please continue to choose challenge 1, 2 or 3 on the weekly SPaG Mat:

Science work for week beginning 29/6/20:

As you have been busy finding out about famous scientists and inventors over the past three weeks, it is now time for you to design your own machine. You can use the attached design sheet or work on your own paper/card if you prefer.

Geography and writing task for week beginning 29/6/20:
For the next two weeks, we are going to focus on "Fair Trade" for our geography study. You have a reading comprehension on this topic, which will give you a good introduction. Try to spot the Fair Trade logo in your home or next time you visit the supermarket. I have also attached some PowerPoints to help. Your writing task this week is to produce an information leaflet or poster, to explain what Fair Trade is and why we should buy Fair Trade products. Think carefully about the words you use when trying to persuade somebody. I have attached some useful words and phrases, along with a persuasive writing template and checklist, to help you plan your work. You can present this leaflet on the computer or on paper. There is also a blank leaflet template, which you may find helpful, in the attached documents.
RE for week beginning 29/6/20:

Here are some suggested RE activities for this week:

Keep up the great work Finches, I am so proud of you all. Thank you parents for all your help, support and encouragement with this home learning. You are all STARS and very much appreciated. I miss my Finches so much and can't wait to see you all again. I do hope you can join us for our class zoom chat this Wednesday at 11:00am. Have a think about one thing you would like to tell your classmates about, since you have been in lock down. Don't worry if you don't want to, you can just say hello and give us a wave.

Take care and keep safe!

Love from Miss Gregory & Lacey xx
