Week 3

This week we have celebrated Chinese New Year. We learnt that 2020 is the year of the rat.
We learnt and performed the song Kung Hei Fat Choy. We also had great fun incorporating a dragon dance into our gross motor skills work. We used the ribbons as the dragons tail.
We listened to the story of Chinese New Year, and discovered how each year was named after an animal in the race. We recreated the race in our small world area, using our knowledge of ordering and ordinal numbers.
In our creative activities we used box modelling materials to design and make super dragons. We have explored mark making with Chinese numbers and symbols. Fledglings have begun to make some lovely blossom Art work too.
Fledglings all enjoyed playing in the sensory dough area, using lots of red and gold materials.
Our finger gym activities involved using tweezers to pick up the woolly noodles. We filled different sized bowls using tweezers and chopsticks. It was tricky! We also threaded different sized beads onto our dragons. We were all fantastic!
In our role play area we have loved the new enhancements, using chopsticks, making delicious Chinese food and dressing up.
We also showed excellent ICT skills as we used the Dazzle programme to paint our own dragons. We selected the colours and paint tools independently.
