Week 2

Hello!

This week in English we have been continuing to look at the poem This is the Place, by Tony Walsh.  The poem celebrates everything to do with Greater Manchester and is an inspirational ode to the region.  Tony Walsh performed the poem in front of thousands of people at Albert Square at a vigil for victims of the Manchester Arena attack.  As well as touching on historical events, the poem also celebrates the area’s great achievements in sport and music.  The great spirit and determination of people from the area is passionately lauded.  Taking inspiration from This is the Place, pupils attempted to write their own poems celebrating all things Mancunian.  Students then proofread and edited their work before writing a second draft.  Later in the week they performed their poems for the class, which was enjoyable for all.  The standard of the work produced was exceptional.

In Maths pupils have been continuing their work on statistics, answering a series of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions on line graphs.  Children have started looking at reading and interpreting data presented in tables.

In Science pupils looked at inheritance and the characteristics that they have inherited from their parents/grandparents.

In RE pupils continued looking at Islam and how praying in a mosque gives Muslims a sense of community.

Thank you!
