Week 2

Hello,  Owls and their parents.

I hope you are all well and enjoying the weather we are having. It was great to see some of your photos last week of all the fun things you have been doing. Please, keep sending them in it’s great to see what you’ve been up to.

Well done to those who have signed into our Bug Club. Here is the link https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0 for those of you who haven’t accessed it yet. Your login is the first 4 letters of your first name and the first four letters of your last name, e.g. janesmit for Janet Smith, with the password owlsace and the school code of rkkp. For some, the login details may be slightly different so if you are having issues please email me at owls@altrinchamceprimaryschool.co.uk.

Parents, I want to thank you for your hard work during this time and to note that we do not wish to cause additional stress to complete the work that has been set. This is a time that children will greatly benefit from all the other things you are doing too. If you are unsure about anything to do with the learning being given, please get in touch. If you are unable to complete a piece of work, please do not feel the pressure to do so. Learning new skills, finding a new interest, keeping active and getting creative will really enhance their experience- and they will look back fondly on the time you spent together.

I look forward to seeing all the exciting things you have been up to.

Keep a growth mindset and stay safe.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Ward

Update for Twinkl

Step 1: Go to www.twinkl.co.uk/offer

Step 2: Enter the code CVDTWINKLHELPS

This should allow you to access resources for free during the school's closure.

What have the Owls been up to this week?

Last week's task was to write a postcard. This one is going to Saskia's grandma in Czech Republic.

Great to see the enrichment activities you have been up to Mia.

Great job in completing Monday's lesson. A super start to the week Saskia.

Maths

Oops we jumped ahead. Due to the differences in term dates, White Rose’s resources do not match up with our term dates. This is why you cannot access the Friday Problem lesson yet. Due to this, we advise you recap the fraction topic to ensure a solid understanding. These can be found under week 1 and week 2 of the White Rose resources. Most children will have missed some of week 1’s learning due to absence and all students missed week 2 due to the school closures. Completing Maths work, daily, will greatly benefit your children.

Phonics

This week you need to complete the fifth lesson from last week’s focus of adding ‘er’ and ‘est’ to words ending in ‘y’ and then continue to the new focus of the spelling ‘el’ saying /l/.

English

This week I have included a variety of activities. I would like you to complete your spellings lesson on Monday. Remember to complete a spell check on Friday after practicing your spellings each day.

Spelling lesson

This week we are looking at the suffixes ‘ly’ and ‘less’. Look through the PowerPoint and practice the words. The additional resources are extra activities.

Grammar lesson

This week I would like you to look at present and past tense. Both in the simple form and progressive. I have included two PowerPoints, two activities and two Twinkl links to short videos that explains these two forms of tenses (you can sign up to Twinkl for free during school closures).

Use the correct tense throughout your work

Use expanded noun phrases with interesting adjectives

Use conjunctions to link words and phrases

Include words with our phonics focus

Can you edit your work to improve it?

Science

This week we are looking at the differences between wild flowers and the flowers we may plant in our gardens. Work through the PowerPoint and then create your own garden using the worksheet.

R.E.

The Pentecost story that you read last week tells us about the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit helped Jesus’ friends to go and spread God’s love.

We are all trying extra hard to be kind and loving at the moment.  Could you think of something kind that you could do to show your family that you love them?

If you draw, write about or take a picture of your kindness, ask you grown up to send it to the class email address and I teacher will post them on the website.

Can you complete the rainbow challenge this week?
