At the end of last week it was very odd that the children kept finding acorns on their chairs, in the pencil pots and under the tables. Nobody seemed to know where they appeared from!

All became apparent when we began to read our new quality text 'The Promise' by Nicola Davies.

A young thief lives in a city that is mean and hard and ugly. The people in the city had grown to be mean and hard and ugly. The thief herself was mean and hard and ugly until she was compelled to make a promise....

We are using the theme of the book to understand the important role trees play in our environment and following our research we will be writing persuasive arguments.
