Week 1

This week we have embraced the importance of internet safety in Eagles Class. On Monday we enjoyed a thought provoking production from Floodlights Theatre School and Academy.
On Tuesday we welcomed Google into school to deliver their 'Be Internet Legends'  assembly. The children were reminded of how to stay safe on-line and the importance of being kind and respectful whilst using the internet.

Later in the week, we welcomed retired Detective Constable ( and ex-parent of our school) Nicola Graham and her co-director of Safer Children Limited, Jan Ratcliffe, to year 6. Their message was very clear and the children fully understood that they should always have private settings on social media, that they should not have anyone in their contacts list that they do not know and that they should never engage in online conversations with unknown individuals. In addition, they were made aware of the consequences of sharing inappropriate images and how they must confide in a trusted family member or teacher if they are concerned about anything they have seen on-line  that has upset or worried them. The parting message was for the children to be as kind and stay as safe on-line as they are in the real world.

The pupils were complemented on the way they answered questions and with the maturity that they embraced these important messages.
