Multiples, Factors and Common Factors

Block four of our maths learning is about multiplication and division. Within the unit of work, there is lots of new vocabulary the children to learn. We started of with the idea of multiples. The concept of a multiple was something that the children were already familiar with. They used arrays to show whether a given number was a multiple of a specific times table. From multiples, it was on to factors. Again, arrays helped the children find the factors of a given number. The children's learning was then extended to the idea of common factors. 

Our next steps will cover prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers!
